Pampering...

Listening to: All Saints - Never Ever
Feeling: Tired

Sarah S had preached me endlessly on the importance of grooming yourself, she is the beauty writer after all. Manicures and pedicures are god sent, she says. I have always thought that they were too expensive and hey, I can cut my nails myself. Boy was I wrong.

Went for my very first mani and pedi last Thursday, mainly because Cin's wedding on the 31st and curiosity got the better of me. Got there and sat down for a manicure first. I had wanted to do a pedicure as well but because I was wearing sneakers, they had advised me against it. I might spoil the nail polish because it takes about an hour to dry.

I wanted to take pictures but I so shy la. They were already laughing at me because of my noob-ness. Being the manicure virgin, I have no idea what to do and where to put my hands and shitz like that. So all I did was lay both my hands on the manicurist table. The rest is up to the Indian lady who is manicurist for the day.

First she cuts my nails, 'Oval or square?' she asked. Hrmm.. I know this one, 'Square' I answered. Square shaped nails always look nicer and neater, compared to oval ones which I sometimes think look skanky with red polish. So snip, snip, snippety snip went off all my dirty and unkempt nails. Then she files it to length and proceeds to buff off the nails to give it a nice sheen and even up the nail surface. Then she slathers on cuticle oil onto it. I've got horribly dry skin around my nails and it flakes all the time. So when I took my hands out from the soapy water that I had been soaking my fingers in and looked at it, I was totally in love with the manicure (not the manicurist, mind you). My nails looks healthy and pink! Yay~

By then, I had already decided that I am doing the pedicure as well. Hell, I'll risk ruining the paint job, or just stay there a while more to dry it. I hopped up to the pedicure 'throne' (because it looks like one!) and let my tootsies fall into the basin of warm soapy water. The pedicurist starts clean my toenails like how the manicurist did. Then, she squeezed out some scrub and started scrubbing my feet and soles with it. My god, that was the point I decided that I will HAVE to do this once every two to three months. What had I been missing? I love being a girl!!!

After painting my toes a deep shade of red, I had to decide again on the color of my nail. I chose baby pink at first but after remembering what ciggies does to nails (it yellows it) I settled on a funky shade of shocking pink/purple. OK, I admit I was in love with the name. Kinky in Helsinki. Who the hell can resist that? So with Kinky in Helsinki in arm, I marched over to the manicurist table again and told the lady that I want nail art too. (I AM GOING ALL OUT HERE!!). Paint, paint, paint, draw, draw, draw and RM100 poorer later, we went out like happy bunnies from the nail parlor. Though I do think that the nail art (which costed a bloody RM3.50 per FINGER, so that works out to RM35 for ten) is not wonderful, I loved the service there. People were friendly and environment was relaxing.

I now totally understand why Sarah S would insist on going for her mani no matter what. I am now a total fan of it. I doubt that I will still do the nail art, its too ma-fan. I had to eat like a tai-tai with pinky sticking out because I was afraid to ruin my RM3.50 nail. It takes about a day to totally dry, so I had to sleep with my arms splayed open just in case I'll smudge them while I'm in bed. The end results...

Summary of 2005

Listening to: Ashley Simpson - Boyfriend
Feeling: Coffee intoxicated

So it's the 25th, 6 more days till 'next year'. Love that word. Next year... Like G just said yesterday, 'Eh, pay you back for the drinks Next Year ah..."

So near, yet so far.. Aigh.... So before I actually forget to blog about this, here it goes...

*My dramatic year in point forms*
1. Had my first ever car-crash (and I hope the last) with another Kelisa. The other driver barged out from the side of the road. I was going straight. Baby went to car hospital for about 3 weeks, and I had to rent a Kancil to bring me around. Went home happy thinking that insurance is intact because I was in the right of way. Only after ten months I realized that they claimed for the accident on my insurance.

2. Came to realize that my friend turned boss is in fact a back stabbing bitch from hell. Subsequently got 'fired' but I 'fired' him back. One of the few times when I actually stood up for myself.

3. A change of jobs, my second in the publishing line. Loads of work to be done but it feels good. Suddenly I realize I am a workaholic too. Fashion writing is not the easiest thing to do.

4. Bought my first iBook. May there be many more to come.

5. Got my first iPod. Secondhand by nevertheless still an iPod.

6. Birth of my high school friend, Amy's baby little Nicole.

7. Cindy's hen's night (my first) and wedding (my second)

8. G and Kay's back for good (or worst.. hahah J/K G!)

Things I've learnt

1. Good friends who are worth keeping is like a good bra from Blush!, they give you great support.

2. After a certain incident, realized that friends are great, but in small dosages.

3. There is only that much you can help someone.

4. Cherating Club Med/Avillion Port Dickson is where I want to have my wedding reception at.

5. Blogging is a good form of release.

6. So much people out there to meet, interviews are now my favorite part of job.

7. Met some celebs. Realized that they are human after all...

And what I've learnt, the hard way*

1. Also realized that if you don't like something about a friend, it might just be blown out in proportions if not released. Could lead to losing a friend. Be more truthful towards friends.

2. I can't do the trapeze even if my life depended on it.

3. People do change.

4. Too much cigarettes could kill but coffee is my best friend now.

That's it for now.. That's all I can think of now.. More if I can remember!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas...

Listening to: O2jam - V3
Feeling: Huh?

I am pissed at Photobucket for not able to upload pictures and therefore headed towards Flickr to register myself a new account. Why should I stick to only one good thing when I can have both I mean, not that I have no brand loyalty but I really need to post up some pictures or I'll just burst. But that's besides the point...

Merry Freaking Xmas~

It is officially the 25th of December. Oh my, how time flies.. Feels as though last year's Xmas just happened last week. Although I really cannot remember what I did then, but it felt like yesterday.

Had been really extremely crazily busy, trying to close Feb and all. I had to miss Tania's Xmas party because of that. I felt bad but then, work comes first these days. I'll try making it up tomorrow. We were supposed to have lunch then, with Marina and the whole gang. Hurrah..

That aside, check out what I've found during my visit to Friendster cafe today?

Camho HoF3

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Friendster cafe wall of fame...

Guess who's pictures' there?

Camho HoF2

Camho HoF

These are all pictures posted on my blog. I stood there wondering how the hell they got it and printed it out. Oh my god, I kinda freaked for a while. Then I realized... Bloody.. there is such a thing called the Technorati search. All questions answered and I stood there thinking... "Being a cam-ho has its benefits after all.." kakakakaka

Camho HoF4
This is one of the earlier pictures posted up on the wall of shame fame, taken using Friendster's camera...

And while we were there, of course have to take a few pictures right?

Friendster1
Xmas at Friendster's. Only me, Nini and GG went because of the last minute change of plans

Friendster3
I wanted to try blowing on something...

Friendster2
I obviously thought it was really fun, so I blew some more

Friendster4
GG and Nini decided that it looked pretty fun and blew along with me too

No, unfortunately, we didn't countdown at Friendster's. We should have. Me and my bloody intuition. Kay invited us for a little drinking session in a pub in OUG. Well, we arrived (after having to persuade Nini that it would be fab) at about 11 something and up we went to a decidedly dingy, old looking and dodgy looking scary looking pub. GG and Nini gave me shit that we ended up here. Well, hey, I didn't know that it's like that in the first place. In the end, it was pretty ok. Not fantastic. Just ok. GG and Nini stared daggers at me when they started playing S.H.E's Superstar. Whoopz...

That pretty much summed up my Christmas eve. Just OK.

Still, I preferred the buildup to Christmas..

Xmascake1

Xmascake2

A pretty cake some hotel sent us. Looks damn good but taste icky

We had a little gift exchange thingy at the office. Had a cute little Christmas tree, some sponsored red wine and leftover junk food from Fraser's. Woot, it was a fun party! Other people started going to their places to bring their private stash of food to share...

Office Party2
Me and Mabs, the confused Santa and Reindeer combo headgear girl

Office Party1
Mabs looking all pretty

Office Party3
Pink M&Ms! Cherry flavored Kisses!! Merry Xmas all!

Lastly, my latest addiction.. Anything to do with Steve Jobs... hahha

Poddy
iPod Mini in Kickass Green!

I am a horrible person. But special love and thanks to Drama for being such a wonderful bitch and selling this to me for only RM500 (+iTrip). Wonderfully new, it even came wrapped in its original wrappings. It was wonderfully taken care of.. sighs.. Thanks again...

That's it for now.. Love the holiday seasons... No work on Monday!! YEAHHHHHHH!

More about presents I've received in my next post!

Love in other ways...

Listening to: The Carpenters - Winter Wonderland Medley
Feeling: Sleepy

Here's a good Christmassy story for you guys out there!

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called "Smile."

The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway so, I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally. Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald's one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved.

As I turned around I smelled a horrible "dirty body" smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was "smiling". His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, "Good day" as he counted the few coins he had been clutching.

The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man was mentally challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his salvation. I held my tears as I stood there with them. The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, "Coffee is all Miss" because that was all they could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be warm). Then I really felt it - the compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man with the blue eyes. That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me, judging my every action. I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on the table and laid my hand on the blue-eyed gentleman's cold hand. He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, "Thank you." I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, "I did not do this for>you. God is here working through me to give you hope." I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, "That is why God gave you to me, Honey, to give me hope." We held hands for a moment and at that time, we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given were we able to give.

We are not church goers, but we are believers. That day showed me the pure Light of God's sweet love. I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in "my project" and the instructor read it. Then she looked up at me and said, "Can I share this?" I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class. She began to read and that is when I knew that we as human beings and being part of God share this need to heal people and to be healed. In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald's, my husband, son, instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student. I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn:

UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE. Much love and compassion is sent to each and every person who may read this and learn how to* *LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.

Feeling on top of the world

Listening to: Lara Fabian and Mario Frangouli - So in love
Feeling: Weary back but wide awake

A week back, me and my former colleagues went on a break to the cool heights of Fraser's Hill. Sarah S says it's gonna be a chillout weekend. The calm before the storm. Right... So I brought a book, Gameboy DS, enough clothes for 3 days, 2 decks of cards and off we went.

Departed from one of my colleague's house at about 11am and we reached (after a few mishaps) at about 1pm. First thing we did was unload the food and stuff that we brought hauled up. Apartment of choice was Silver Park Apartments and we were supposed to stay at the 3rd floor. I didn't exactly realize the huge amount of food that we had until each of us (there was 7 of us) had to make about 2 trips down to the car to bring up everything. We had about 3 boxes of food. Fishballs and a FIELD of veggies for steamboat (as it is the preferred food in cold places) and canned food (we could last the nuclear winter) and instant noodles just in case we get hungry (you think?) hahah. It was really funny that Sarah S wanted to hurry up and bring everything up because she was afraid our neighbors could see us bringing up so much food.

So, I guess you would have figured out that all we did was eat eat and eat. In fact we had the steamboat on the whole time so whoever wants to eat can eat then and there! It was crazy, we had junkfood and proper food as one of my colleagues got her relatives to make tom yam soup and rice wine chicken (both superb!!!)

Daphany brought coffee liquor that tasted abit like mocha latte. Hrmmm... T.T It tasted to damn good. Unfortunately, because sis had a performance in Johor, she took the family camera with her. I am left with my camera phone. So here are some pictures taken from the balcony of the apartment we stayed in...

Didn't take much pictures because all I did on the second day I was there was read. I finished the last book in the Chronicles of Narnia, The Last Battle. Started reading in the afternoon at the balcony with a steamy cup of coffee and ciggies with the wonderful view in front of me as company. The rest went off to check out the waterfalls. Didn't wanna go because I wanted to chill by myself...

The weather there was wonderful. Just nice cold.. Not super duper cold like the last time we went there. Like air conditioning at a nice chilly 16c.

Planning to go there again in February after Chinese New Year with Gem, G, Nini, Sarah N and gang... Would be fun to go there with crazy friends. Planning to chill AND get wasted. :p

Thinking out this trip made me wish that I didn't need to work. Maybe I should just quit and open up a Starfucks in Fraser's. Hmmm... that's a thought... Had been working the whole week. I think my brains are frying up..=.=

Time to sleep. The shoot's 6 hours away and I am kinda freaking out.

Hark, the Herald Angels Sings

Listening to: I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Feeling: Awfully tired

Fuh... After a few days of stressing and staying back late for work, I am finally down to 2 more days before my shoot. Feeling much excited, tired, stressed and obsessed about the whole thing. My first unassisted model shoot. =.= All fingers crossed, uncrossed and crossed again for this one to turn out at least nice~

So its 3.46 in the morning and I have an 11am appointment tomorrow. Yet I can't sleep. Have to post up something before my weary head hits the pillow. So here goes...

You know Christmas is a hop, skip and turn away when...
(I know it's abit late, but I intended to do this before just that I was too lazy to load pictures up... :p )

*... Starfucks starts their Xmas drinks season. This year's Creme Brulee and Peppermint Mocha (Ithinkthat'sright)

Absolutely love the red cups. Feels alot more like Christmas with one of those in hand and Christmas songs playing in the background

*... shopping malls starts playing Christmas carols. In fact, they start playing them in November. It scares me. And come beginning of December, they decorate their malls. Like so...

Starhill. The prettiest one so far. They even have pretty white snowflakes suspended from the ceiling ALL OVER! My camera can't take the details and the pictures of the snowflakes came out crap. So here's the pretty tree

KLCC. As usual, they went all out and tried to get the biggest tree award from the Malaysian Book of Records. Or something..

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This kinda bordered along tacky but in the end, I think it was pretty alright. In fact, looking at it again, I think it looks kinda cute.

*... IKEA hosts their spectacular year-end Christmas Media party. Had too much Schnapps. Nasty things they are. Decided that crayfishes were not exactly my thing. But my colleagues enjoyed it more than I did. Meatballs are still the top of my favorite Swedish food list.

The setting and atmosphere of the whole party was just so nice. Minus the heat, we could have been in Sweden. We even had mulled wine (which tasted kinda nasty, I rather have Schnapps, the Swedish vodka. Potent stuff!!)
